Imprints on Our Nervous Systems are Life Long

Imprints to our nervous system happen in utero forward.

Our choices and behaviors at twenty, thirty, forty, and onward are tied to what occurred in our nervous systems from younger ages.

We are all walking nervous systems that bump into one another until we gain awareness and choose to do somatic and trauma work to heal.

For example, I know a woman who had a mother who was not loving and had narcissistic tendencies.

Once she had children, and especially the last one who came after much loss of other babies, she clung hard.

This child now receives everything from her as her nervous system patterning is bound to fixing her old wounds.

The woman will work two jobs so her child can do costly activities, put her emotional needs last.

Filling this one child's needs soothes her nervous system, but it comes at a cost to her health and the other people she loves, such as her other children and husband.

To anyone, her behavior seems completely fine, albeit a little passionate.

Still, there are thousands of parents who live through their children because of their trauma patterns.

The difference is she wanted to learn how to create more balance and came in for help.

We can live our lives unaware and have loads of behaviors that our society deems normal and healthy, like being utterly obsessed with our children's sports.

But if these choices create illness, financial anxiety, fear, anger, weight gain, come in to figure out why.

It is possible your old trauma patterns are dictating your current behavior.

Free Somatic therapy consultations are always available via Zoom or in person.
