Massage Therapy for Trauma
Have you ever visited a massage therapist and found yourself sharing personal details about your life, almost as if you were in a therapy session? Perhaps you lay on the massage table, suddenly overcome with tears, unsure of why you were feeling that way. It's also possible that when a massage therapist touches a specific part of your body, a memory surfaces unexpectedly, causing you discomfort or a sense of release.
A gentle and safe touch has a unique way of communicating with your body that no other method can replicate. Imagine working with a highly skilled professional trained in somatic experiencing therapy and biodynamic craniosacral therapy, with over twenty years of experience in massage. My approach to therapeutic massage goes beyond a simple day at the spa; it involves a deep exploration of what you hold in your body.
Using techniques taught in my somatic training, I aim to help you release and transform. Engaging in this process requires you to stay present with your body, focusing on your breath and exploring what arises when I touch areas where you hold chronic tension. My intention is to identify and release nervous system patterns and emotions.
For some clients who have experienced physical or sexual abuse, the nature of the massage may feel different, as the goal is to discharge built-up tension or bracing patterns that are hardwired into their nervous systems. This can also apply to areas related to past medical procedures or injuries, such as broken bones.
Each massage session is tailored to the individual client. When seeking touch therapy, a traditional somatic session is necessary first to understand your specific needs and how my somatic process can best serve you.
Each massage session is as individual as the client. When wanting touch therapy, a traditional Somatic session is required first to understand your needs and how my particular Somatic massage process works for you.
