War and Our Nervous Systems

In our unique ways, we are all experiencing stress from what is happening in Ukraine. I have had a couple of clients come in very disturbed by this war. Yet when we sit with their sensations and recognize the emotional tethers, their anger or fear comes from the past. It has little to do with the current war, but how they were primed for situations like this based on previous experiences.

Knowing this does not mean they are not moved emotionally by the situation, but they feel more manageable and coherent when given a chance for silence and sensation work.

With safe and thoughtfulness put into our presence as humans and what previous trauma has already primed and recorded, we get closer to who we are.

The gift of Somatic therapy is to know yourself on every level. Understand when your thinking, feeling, and sensing ego is engaged and observe from a place of neutrality as much as possible what you believe and what deserves your attention.

If this war, our political climate, or the world has you spinning and unable to find solid ground, come in or zoom chat and breathe.

Somatic work will help you see where to place your attention and heal the spaces triggered by the world around you.

Doing this will make you more helpful and productive to the people or the causes you cherish.

Free in-person or Google meet consultations are always available.
