Wounds From Above

There is a lot of damage done by institutionalized religions.

This type of trauma is tricky to unpack because it is attached to a structured belief system about right and wrong, good and bad.

Most people raised in a belief system at some point turn what they are being taught to I am good or bad, not my behaviors are good or ill-advised.

Depending on what other wounds they may have, these ideas can become very wrapped up in our identities and translated unconsciously into I am a terrible or unloveable person.

This belief can turn into an ardent following of the system in place or a myriad of other dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors.

The other piece about this type of trauma is that our family systems tend to push towards one way or the other, which can cause more conflict.

There is no one story about organized religion and its impact, but if you want to better understand these types of wounds, Somatic therapy can help.

Sitting in stillness with a safe practitioner and sensing in your body how your experience has impacted you on a visceral level helps shift the beliefs you have about yourself.

Once you have shifted the negative beliefs, it is easier to find what path works for you going forward.

Negative views on spirituality or religious beliefs systems don't need to hold power over us forever.

Once we heal and sense our innate wholeness, it is easier to make balanced decisions on what we choose to believe.

Consultations are always free.
