Pause
As I blog about the issues we have as people and things we can do to help ourselves, it always falls to one thing - find stillness.
EVERYTHING about how we learn to function better as a person starts with silence and stillness.
Does this mean you have to be Buddhist, a yogi, avid meditator, or monk? No.
But if we want to learn how to rewire our nervous systems, gain awareness to change behavior, and live our best life, we must find silence.
“Much of psychotherapy is slowing down and listening at a feeling level to our stories. ”
The depth of who we are and who we want to become is discovered in the pauses that we get when doing silent Somatic work.
Our false selves, the way most of us interact with the world, clings to productivity, analyzing, and egoic self.
If we want to live more authentically, heart-centered, joyfully, and mindfully we have to slow down.
I don't mean slow down by listening to your air pods on a walk or talking incessantly to God.
I mean, sit in quiet solitude for five or more minutes a day and check in with your body, breath, and inner source.
Not spiritual? It doesn't matter.
Finding your inner self in stillness has to be a part of your life practice to feed your soul.
People find this everywhere in God, in nature, playing music, creating art; all of this cares for our soul.
Is this type of practice natural? Nope.
Comfortable? Not always.
Worthwhile? Definitely.
The way away from addiction, negative behaviors, toxic relationships, and anger are looking inside while quiet.
Pausing and breathing through the feelings and emotions we have built our entire lives around avoiding is the key to change.
