Mushrooms
Several clients have decided that the only way to receive change and shift out of their old patterns is to microdose psilocybin or complete a mushroom journey. Journies are the new buzz and a bandwagon anyone who wants instant change is grabbing onto.
I am knowledgeable about the new science and see some promise when the journeys are in more medical settings than not.
I have led a couple of journeys for clients and realized that what came to their awareness was more intense and, in one case, a pretty traumatizing way than when spiritual healing happens in a session.
I have decided to stay in my lane and allow the healing to overtake a client when they are ready and open for the nervous system pattern to leave or shift with cranial touch. This type of shift is essentially what a psilocybin journey is promising.
Will mushrooms be the answer that will bring you to a place of self-love and gain awareness where you want it? Maybe.
Will Somatic Psychotherapy? Maybe.
I know where significant shifts have happened for people on journeys, and they have come to me to unpack what the experience showed them.
I also encounter significant nervous system pattern changes and release every day with my clients.
See what feels suitable for you and move there, but remember, there are a lot of practitioners doing mushroom-assisted therapy who have no skill at holding a safe space if things go sideways.
Suppose the lousy trip ends up being you. In that case, it will be terrifying.
Leading a journey is also a way in a down economy to make money off vulnerable and desperate souls with no current regulations to keep therapists accountable in Colorado.
Please be aware that the medical communities doing the fundamental research on this work believe some preexisting conditions are a big no.
Taking a mood-altering medication for depression or anxiety and if you have had a mental breakdown or a family member has, it is not a good idea to attempt a journey.
Choose wisely and be safe.
